IT Consulting Legal

Justin Hurtado, Jr. Consulting Justin Hurtado, Jr. has been working with the legal industry since 1992. Starting as the Billing Manager for a mid-size insurance defense firm in Los Angeles, he handled a conversion from a proprietary time & billing system to an IBM mid-range accounting system.

While working with technical consultants on the conversion, he was approached to join their legal accounting and systems team. With this consulting firm, he assisted a broad range of law firms of various sizes maintaining, upgrading, supporting and converting their time & billing systems. This involved reviewing accounting practices, integration with Microsoft and Novell networks, and configuring multi-million dollar systems.

While working with a client in Chicago, he was selected to join the firm as their Manager of Technology to support their multi-office of diversified practices. During his tenure at this firm, an industry-wide push was in motion to migrate from Novell and WordPerfect to Microsoft Word and network operating systems. In conjunction with the migration of office productivity, all systems, including phone systems, were upgraded and made Y2K compliant.

To further his knowledge of legal specific technology, he joined a technology consulting firm. During the lean times post Y2K, he assisted the firm's exposure within the legal market's small to mid-size firms which resulted in doubling staff and clientele. He was exposed to many forms of usage of technology in smaller practices. Law firms obviously use document management, templates, collaboration, research and remote capabilities in ways that specifically fit their practices.

These experiences give Justin Hurtado, Jr. Consulting a unique understanding of the legal industry's needs.
